Well my Obagi journey is over (thank goodness).  I was not pleased with the results, so I will not be purchasing any more of their products.

Since then I decided to try Idol Lash eye lash growth serum.  My eyelashes needed help growing, so I ordered some after reading about it on http://eyelashhelper.com.  I am quite pleased with the results, hopefully you will be also.

My Obagi Journey

About 6 weeks ago I attended a luncheon at the spa.  I listened intently as the Obagi rep told us about the Obagi Nu-Derm Skin Transformation System. What really perked my interest was the rep’s claim that the system would get rid of pre-cancerous spots on my skin. Well, I come from a family that gets skin cancer (especially on the face), and I have very sensitive skin. So after talking to the rep, I decided to try the travel set of Obagi’s Nu-Derm Skin Transformation System.  I also bought the Elastiderm Eye Treatment and tretinoin cream.

Weeks 1-6 of my Obagi Journey

I followed the suggested protocol for getting started with my Nu-Derm system.
1. Gentle Cleanser (am/pm) – wash face with cleanser, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry with a clean towel
2. Toner (am/pm) – put toner on a cotton ball and apply to entire face
a. Elastiderm Eye Treatment (optional) (am/pm)
3. Clear (am/pm) – prescription topical treatment, which is applied evenly to the entire face.
4. Exoderm (normal to dry) (am) – a plant acid that removes old dead skin cells while promoting new skin cells --also applied evenly to entire face
5. Blender and Tretinoin cream (every 3 days) (pm) – topical prescription treatment that targets discolored areas
6. Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35 (am) – apply under makeup.
Obagi Exoderm

At the end of the second week, I was a mess.  My face looked and felt like raw meat.  It also itched – so much so that I felt like clawing my face.  I wasn’t prepared for my skin’s response to the Obagi products.  So I met with the spa cosmetician and showed her my face.  Her response was “You looked great!”  Needless to say, I did not feel great and was ready to stop using the skin transformation system.  Evidently, during the first six weeks (Phase 1) my skin was supposed to be adapting to the system; itching, dryness, and redness are normal side effects.  Did I mention that I have sensitive skin?  Anyway, we agreed that I could cut back on the Exoderm (use it every other day) and adjust step 5 to once a week.

Well that helped a lot.  At least my skin quit itching (with the help of Aquaphor) and my breakouts weren’t so obvious that I wanted to hide in a closet.  One of my co-workers (who has beautiful skin) even suggested that I try Preparation-H on my tender spots.  I did, and that worked quickly to relieve the itching and clear the redness.  She now stops by once a week to see how my Obagi journey is going.  Last week she mentioned that she really noticed an improvement in my skin, so I think I will continue using Obagi’s Nu-Derm System for the next six weeks. The Phase 1 result of a more even-toned appearance is starting to happen. Yeah!

So I have a couple of questions for you.

1. Have you tried Obagi’s Nu-Derm System?
2.  If, yes, would you share your experience with me?

I would love to hear from you and as my Obagi journey continues, I plan on sharing more with you.
